Topic: Enhancing control of the external EU border.

To start with, the European Border Surveillance System is mainly focused on the southern and eastern external borders and in the irregular migration places. It focuses on enhancing border surveillance, with the purpose to:  reduce the number of illegal immigrants that enter to Europe undetected. To reduce the death toll of illegal immigrants by rescuing more lives at sea, and finally, to increase internal security of Europe. This are very important because allot of deaths are happening due to crossing the European border illegally. Some actions have been taken already like examining the creation of European border surveillance system; this action was taken on 13 February 2008.

The Netherlands is in favor of taking these actions, and to enhancing more control over the European borders. The Netherlands is located in Europe; due to its location, undetected immigrants also affect this country. ”The European Border Surveillance system should provide a common technical framework for streamlining the daily cooperation and communication between member states’ authorities, and facilitate the use of state-of-the-art technology for border surveillance,” and official EU statement said.

My country has developed some policy objectives for border surveillance: first, “to reduce the death toll of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants by rescuing more of them at sea”. Second, “to reduce the number of illegal immigrants who enter the EC outside border crossing point”; and third, “to increase the EC’s internal security by countering terrorism and other serious crimes which involve crossing the EC’s external borders.” My country is open to any solutions that other countries have developed.
